The Bearing Time exhibition is the fruit of desires that stirred in me as I approached my 40th birthday. I wanted to artistically transition into this new decade of my life with collaborative art-making. I felt a great need to integrate the creative parts of me, the artist, with the many other evolving strands of my life—motherhood, partnering in marriage, laboring in ministry, and creating my life in a new, very different home after a recent move. I wanted to weave all these threads into a new tapestry. And I wanted to gather some artists around me who I have had the pleasure to work with in the past. I called us all to create around this theme: Bearing Time.
I find myself returning again and again to the 90th Psalm, with its themes of time, transition, and eternity. These reflections, further shaped by the inspiration of friends and collaborators, forced into reality by tenacious encouragement, became embodied in this collection of work. Justin Ryan Boyer created a short film (below) about the inspiration and creative process of this show. Each contributing artist has a gallery below for you to enjoy. If you would like more information about the artists or purchasing any of the pieces gathered here, feel free to contact me or the artist directly.
